Welcome Back

Thanks , I have been out of the picture for some time now. Snow is back but mine is out. Heavy lifting I cannot do at this point. Mr Marella from the Theatre Arts Dept here at WHS -has been working dilegently with the actors , singers and players for this weekends- soon to be the fantastic- production of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. A musical by Lynn Aherns based upon the novel MY LOVE , MY LOVE by Rosa Guy. Quickly , it is a Caribbean fairy tale and displays the power of story telling - kinda meta - but not really. March 5th and 6th 2010 at 7:30 pm then March 6th and 7th 2:00 matinee. If you enjoy powerful products , strong music and singing , and love to see a high caliber display of top notch high school performances - then this is your ticket to entertainment; Not To Be Missed. Costuming-Dancing and Backdrops are spectacular as well.

New Semester at WHS

OK now for all you fun seekers , the second semester has begun.
My class load is as follows;
2 Art Foundation 2D periods 3 & 5= all loaded to the brim
2 Digital Imaging / Photography periods 3 & 5 in room A010 aka CADD not 007 yay !
my AP Studio DRAWING is still a full year course; however to make Drawing II go this year I merged the two classes at the same meeting time. I also have a newly invented course that with the help at Hogwarts - magically appeared in my roster; Essential 2D Foundations. Maybe they will eventually tell me what their expectations are for this course. It should be an interesting journey for me. I am looking forward to the trip.

At first glance , the AF 2D students have very good pencil skills. They are working from a corner of the art room - displaying their level of observation and graphite pencil work. I am quite impressed with them as a lot. Thank you Paula and Linda for the ground work you had in the preparation for WHS. I am also impressed with their inquisitive internal dialogue and the subsequent comments that emerges when they are in the 'right mode groove'. I hear moments like" oh , crap I put the wrong angle in there." or What did I do that doesn't allow me to fit all the pieces in- so it looks normal? oh yeh, I didn't give it enough length." or my favourite , "Oh yes, I see what you mean, I get it now." That's the best when you hear that phrase.

Digital Photography- the new addition to our famille de beaux arts at the flagship- is well on it's maiden voyage this year. PRD took the helm first semester hand had very positive results. Your truly gets to take over for the return trip to harbor. Most of those enrolled seem to be quite excited about this class- but as in many other classes- there is the doobot factor in some instances.

A great big 'hug & kiss' and one enormous THANK YOU to those who have supported me in my effort in obtaining a sufficient number of digital SLRs ( Nikon D40 and 60 ) for this fledgling course. Last year I received solid support from the Westborough Educational Foundation, Westborough Music Parents Association WMPA- soon to be the Fine Arts group the word has it- and the non-school group that is always behind us here at WHS - WASA Westborough Athletic & Social Association ; Thanks guys!!!!!

UBI; I am taking an evening class at WAM; Watercolor All Levels with William Griffiths- what a hoot he is. I felt the need for an shot in the a#@ /arm by revisiting my watercolor roots with the hope to be recharged as well as gleaning new techniques and tricks of the materials as to freshen up my approach for my students in the Multi Media classes - and this looks like a winner fo-sho. Griffiths idiomatic expressions seem to be regional or location specific colloquial: He must be from the south - and I don't mean Maryland or Virginia- but rather West ( by God) Virginia, or Tennessee or perhaps Georgia. For instance. I asked if a narrative he mentioned had been based in actual truth. His response ' Nah, I was just dragging a stick across a picket fence."

Should be great

By for now

Day one in the life of a blogger

Just getting started on this activity. I doubt if I shall do this on a daily activity - however it is suggested that we ( WHS art teachers ) maintain this blogging form in lieu of a web page: and cheaper too!

Most likely I should have connections to friends web sites and really cool websites of things I find interesting.
